The Support Network for Survivors of Torture (ReSST)<\/strong> brings together public and private entities and NGOs that offer specialized programs or services to assist those who have suffered torture and other serious violence. The Network promotes information and awareness-raising initiatives on the issues of torture, its short- and long-term consequences on survivors and their communities, and the need to strengthen at various levels the implementation of international norms and standards against torture and the related tools for prevention, monitoring and repression.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

RESST is committed to:<\/strong><\/p>

Promote the good practices<\/strong> launched in some regions of the Italian territory, with the aim of promoting the full application of the 2017 Guidelines of the Ministry of Health.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>

Improve the availability and quality of services dedicated to torture survivors<\/strong>, ensuring their access to adequate rehabilitation programs to rebuild their lives, as well as the necessary support to obtain further forms of support and reparation.<\/p>

Promote scientific research, training and professional development activities,<\/strong> as well as specific initiatives aimed at expanding the dissemination of rehabilitation programs on a national scale.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Network aims to address the serious consequences of torture, a universally prohibited practice that is still present in over 140 countries and often associated with the migratory experience. Migrants, along the various routes, suffer torture, abuse, violence and trauma that require timely intervention to identify and address their psychological, social and cultural fragilities. If not recognized and treated in time, these problems can become chronic, with human and social costs that extend for generations. Physical injuries, post-traumatic disorders, depression and isolation require targeted rehabilitation programs to promote reintegration into society.<\/p>

Also for these reasons, ReSST aims to:<\/strong><\/p>

  • Raise public awareness and institutions on the immediate and long-term effects of torture, which affect both victims and their communities.<\/li>
  • Strengthen the capacity to respond to the specific needs of torture survivors, ensuring early identification and access to rehabilitation and support programs.<\/li>
  • Promote institutional dialogue to fully implement the Ministry of Health Guidelines and international standards on human rights and prevention of torture.<\/li><\/ul>

    ReSST represents a space for collaboration and discussion, which aims to create an integrated and inclusive system, placing the dignity and rights of torture survivors at the center.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
