The MSF report “Surviving Torture” illustrates the project in support of migrants and refugees who have survived intentional violence and torture, opened in Palermo at the end of 2020 and implemented since October 2023 in collaboration with the University and Polyclinic “Paolo Giaccone” of Palermo.
It is one of the few organizations in Italy to provide specialized services to this population, integrating public and private, and aiming to become a reference center for the entire national territory.
The report was presented during the international conference “Surviving Torture. Prevention and Treatment Models: Challenges, Best Practices and Work Prospects”, held in Palermo in December 2023, where national and international experts, together with representatives of institutions and local organizations, discussed strategies and models for taking charge of people who have survived intentional violence and torture.
